About the ABMS mark of approved activities
ABMS encourages CME Providers to identify activities in their listings that have been approved by an ABMS Member Board. Doing so makes it easier for diplomates to find activities that meet their needs, and it indicates a level of quality and relevance.
The ABMS mark of approved activities is a small icon that appears on an activity description, and/or adjacent to approved activities in a list of activities:
Obtaining and Using the ABMS Mark of Approved Activities
CME Providers may request the ABMS mark of approved activities, and use it following these policies, procedures, and quality requirements:
- The CME Provider must agree to the licensing terms.
- In short, the licensing terms state that the ABMS mark may only be used for CME activities approved by a participating ABMS Member Board, and that approval to use the mark must be obtained from ABMS.
- Activities that have been submitted for approval but have not yet been approved by at least one ABMS Member Board may not use the mark.
- CME Providers have three options for explaining what the mark means.
- Make the mark ‘clickable’ by pasting the following bit.ly link in the ‘link to’ field. This link will take the reader to the explanatory text on the ABMS Continuing Certification Directory. (The bit.ly link allows us to see the traffic source.)
http://bit.ly/ABMS-2nz0nnd - Make the mark ‘clickable’ to a page or pop-up window on your website. Copy the explanatory text and paste it in that page or pop-up.
- If it is not possible to make the mark clickable, then otherwise provide a link to the explanatory text, such as by posting a footnote on the approved activity’s page.
- Make the mark ‘clickable’ by pasting the following bit.ly link in the ‘link to’ field. This link will take the reader to the explanatory text on the ABMS Continuing Certification Directory. (The bit.ly link allows us to see the traffic source.)
- CME Providers must protect the quality of the mark when displaying it, by following these guidelines that are sent by ABMS along with the graphic files, upon acceptance of the terms. ABMS will send four PNG files to choose from, depending on the format that best suits the CME Provider’s website. The four format options are:
