Description of CME Course
The CDC estimates that almost 50,000 new cases of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections occur each year, approximately 1.2 million people in the U.S. are infected with the virus, and approximately 20% of those people infected are unaware of their HIV status. Because HIV is a major public health issue in the US, physicians need to know many aspects about HIV infection. The aspects addressed in this course include epidemiology, modes of transmission, HIV testing, laws regarding reporting and confidentiality, prevention, and clinical management/treatment of HIV.
