Description of CME Course
The curriculum includes over 50 hours of training and will lead to a certificate of completion from the UCI
School of Medicine.
• Two-weekend intensive training (24-28 CME hours)
• One hour per month of mentoring sessions with a TNT fellowship faculty member/mentor (12 hours)
• Twice-per-month, live case-based discussions and patient interviews with a focus on integrated
addiction medicine via teleconference (20 CME hours)
Trainees will learn:
• How to complete an evidence-based substance use screening in busy primary care or other general
medical settings
• How to effectively prevent, diagnose, and treat commonly encountered substance use and pain-related
disorders (e.g., opioids, alcohol, stimulants, and benzodiazepines)
• How to teach these principles to their primary care colleagues

6. Effectively manage common pain conditions with non-opioid therapies.
