Description of CME Course
Differences in clinical opinions regarding the interpretation of EFM data or other clinical factors between two perinatal practitioners can and will happen. Choosing not to share a clinical opinion when it is clinically indicated or refusing to take into consideration another’s opinion into a patient’s plan of care has been shown to increase malpractice risk. This activity is the first part of a 2-part series. Part 1 outlines aspects of creating a psychologically safe environment and part 2 focuses more on utilizing a Chain-of-Authority process when needed. Risk mitigation and patient safety strategies that successfully foster resolution are highlighted.
