The Oregon ECHO Network (OEN) will work closely with state and local specialists to deliver a 12-session telementoring program that will focus on substance use disorders in adolescents. The ECHO Program will use the Project ECHO (https://echo.unm.edu/) methodology to deliver the project

Educational Objectives
This ECHO will address the following knowledge, skill, and practice gaps: Knowledge gaps
• Learn the chronic disease model of SUD and use person first language to reduce stigma
• Learn unique properties of non-pharmaceutical fentanyl and its emerging impact on adolescents
• Learn the basics of medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), with a focus on Buprenorphine • Learn what is FDA-approved versus off-label, and special considerations for using MOUD in adolescents
• Learn about the Peer Support intervention and how Peers can partner with healthcare teams Skill gaps
• Learn how to screen for SUDs in adolescents and to identify Opioid Use Disorder
• Learn an approach to interviewing adolescents about SUD, including motivational interviewing methods
• Learn to use Buprenorphine for withdrawal management in the fentanyl era, and manage patients taking Buprenorphine maintenance
• Learn to provide harm reduction counseling and resources, including naloxone
• Learn how to fund and hire Peers to join the adolescent’s care team
• Learn to utilize available referral resources for adolescents
• Learn to navigate patient privacy, autonomy, and partnership with parents in the care of adolescents with SUD Practice gaps
• Increase SUD screening in clinics serving adolescents
• Increase SUD treatment for adolescents in pediatric and family medicine clinics
• Increase Naloxone distribution and harm reduction education
• Increase the number of clinics/facilities confidently prescribing Buprenorphine for OUD
• Increase collaboration with peer support specialists in the care of adolescents
