Description of CME Course
The acute aspiration of gastric contents in the perioperative setting is a recognized complication of anesthesia that may lead to severe patient morbidity and mortality. The purpose of this course is to provide learners the opportunity to gain the necessary knowledge to competently perform and interpret a gastric ultrasound examination, and therefore, enhance patient care by decreasing the overall risk(s) associated with the aspiration of gastric contents in the perioperative setting.
This activity contributes to the CME component of the American Board of Anesthesiology’s redesigned Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology™ (MOCA®) program, known as MOCA 2.0®. Please consult the ABA website, www.theABA.org, for a list of all MOCA 2.0 requirements.
