Description of CME Course

Thank you to ASA’s Industry Supporters: Baudax Bio, Edwards Lifesciences, Fresenius Kabi, GE HealthCare, Heron Therapeutics, Masimo, Medtronic, Merck.

Delirium in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is part of the continuum of postoperative delirium and is associated with unfavorable patient outcomes and increased resource utilization. The course of neurocognitive recovery following anesthesia and surgery is poorly understood and described, with few uniformly applied protocols in place. In this webinar, anesthesiologists with expertise in perioperative brain health will give an overview of how to assess, manage and treat delirium in the PACU. We will also discuss the importance of mitigating the constellation of symptoms within this phase of neurorecovery, as well as clinical measures that might help to decrease poor outcomes. This webinar will provide a general overview of this critical period of neurocognitive import along with clinically relevant and applicable treatment management standards and practices for anesthesiologists and healthcare professionals involved in the perioperative management of surgical patients.
